Heels 2
Join Heels 2, an intermediate-level class designed for dancers with 5+ years of dance training. This class is ideal for dancers who are comfortable executing floorwork, turns, and kicks, and are ready to refine their execution while in heels.
Overview:
Heels 2 is a dynamic class where dancers continue to build on their foundational skills while learning challenging choreography. This class focuses on technique refinement, style development, and performance preparation.
What to Expect:
- Intermediate Level: Designed for dancers with 5+ years of dance training, Heels 2 challenges dancers with heels techniques and choreography. We recommend a minimum of 2+ sessions of hotness 102.
- Performance Opportunity: Students have the opportunity to perform twice during the season.
- Limited Modifications: This class emphasizes technique and execution, with limited modifications available.
Students need to execute and know the following:
- Good choreo retention, and ability to recall choreo week by week is expected, aka you are expected to be spending time outside of class going over choreo and can recall it without assistance from the teacher.
- Ability to interpret more complex counts and musicality.
- Base level in jazz and/or ballet tech with the ability to perform single turns, and kicks, with little guidance.
- Floor work technique is also a must, such as simple turns on the floor, and rolls.
- Overall, you posses a willingness to challenge yourself in your heels performance, and are seeking to develop into a strong intermediate dancer!
Attire and Requirements:
- Wear stiletto-style heels appropriate for dance, ensuring comfort and stability during dynamic movements.
- Heel colour: black or nude, instructor's choice.
- Prepare for a class environment focused on technique, precision, and performance readiness.
- Bring knee-pads!
Join Heels 2 and elevate your heels dance journey to new heights. Refine your technique, master challenging choreography, and prepare to perform in a supportive and empowering class setting. Step into the spotlight and dance with confidence in Heels 2!
CHOOSING HEELS:
• My best advice is to only train in heels and perform - wear cute sneakers out to dinner and to dance. Take baths and roll out our muscles!
• A chunky boot may feel easier but you will not build the strength and stability you need for heels. Starting with a smaller heel is totally fine!
• Platforms like pleasers are for a specific style, erotic dance and are challenging! They do not allow you to feel the floor and especially starting out you want no platform.
BEST BEST BEST IS:
• Bootie for ankle support
• Laces to adjust tightness
• Open toe so your toes can SPREAD and feel the floor versus being scrunched in
• Thin heel to build ankle strength
• a flare heel is great to start, 2-3 inches is fine
