Passion and Performance is excited to partner with Lost Girls Burlesque to present two steamy workshops AND two peer review workshops for burlesque enthusiasts and performers.

All workshops are Saturday, August 19th, 2017 at our facility.

Classic Burlesque Movement (all levels) – 12:00-1:30pm
Get ready to awaken your inner vintage vixen! A beginner-level class with a body positive emphasis, focused on drilling burlesque basics, like bumps, grinds, body rolls, hip swivels and shimmies. We will even enter the world of peels, incorporating the art of striptease into the syllabus (leaving the clothes on, of course, for education purposes!). This class includes a dance-based warm-up and stretch, skill-building movement drills, and choreography, all set to both classic and contemporary tunes.

Please wear comfortable clothes that you can move in, preferably form fitting so you can see your body lines. Bring a pair of gloves, stockings, bra, and panties–and water!

Glam Rock (intermediate) – 2:00 -3:30pm
Learn to move and grind your hips and whip your hair around like an 80’s metal babe in this fun, choreography-based, progressive class. This class is designed to let you let loose, dance, and have fun to the likes of Def Leppard, Guns’n’Roses, Bon Jovi, Pat Benetar, and Motley Crue! The class includes a stretch and strength warm-up, floor work and technique, followed by high-energy choreography. The main focus in this class will be choreography. Learn to channel your inner glam rock star, putting intention behind your movements and expression through your eyes and face.

Please wear comfortable, stretchy clothing that you can move and dance in, and feel free to bring knee pads for floor work. Don’t forget your water!

Peer Review Workshops (beginner and intermediate/advanced) – 12-3:30pm

Show us what you’ve got! The Lost Girls will host peer-review sessions, in which students will bring acts, or act ideas, to be presented in front of a few of the Lost Girls, in addition to their peers, for critique and advice. Feeling nervous already? No sweat! The Lost Girls have a structured lesson plan to keep the atmosphere of the class light and supportive, so that the focus is on providing a learning experience for students, whether they are presenting or critiquing. Undeveloped acts (i.e. those that have not been fully costumed, choreographed, or finished to completion) are encouraged and welcome! Let us help you put those pieces together!

12-1:30pm – Intermediate/Advanced
2-3:30 – Beginner

Bring a notepad/pen or other note-taking device (i.e. phone, laptop).

Each workshop is $35.
