East Coast Swing *NEW*
Sometimes also called jive or jitterbug, East Coast is fast, single-time (not triple-step!) swing dancing that uses the well known "slow-slow-quick-quick" basic timing and will give you a solid cardio workout in the process. Dance to classic big-band music such as Benny Goodman, 60's rock & roll, or more modern "neo-swing" by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, the Squirrel Nut Zippers, or BC's own Colin James. East Coast Swing is the fastest, funnest and easiest form of swing around, and is the ideal place for beginners to start. Classes are progressive (no drop-ins please) and do not require a partner to register. Students are encouraged to switch partners regularly in class to hasten learning and reduce bad habits. Singles will be required to register as either leader or follower, and a wait list will be established if there is an imbalance of roles.
